I love to get into the spirit of the season, no matter what time of year it is, with a little bit of seasonally-appropriate baking. I just don’t always have as much time for that as I would like though with all of this life going on all the time. You know how it is. This is why I love a good super simple recipe. These types of recipes allow me to enjoy creating something delicious to enjoy with my family and make me feel like I’m really embracing the season, but don’t require an entire afternoon of my life to do it. This three ingredient danish recipe really hits the mark when it comes to that type of recipe.

Three Ingredient Apple Danish Recipe for Apple Season

This is the perfect thing to make right after coming home from the orchard during the fall season. We always fit in an apple orchard trip every year and come home with way too many apples. Every year I’m more determined than the last to make use of all of those apples, and I have a few really easy recipes that I always make, but I’m happy to have discovered this new one to add to my bag of tricks. I tested this one out on some grocery store apples, and I’ll definitely be making it again this week after our orchard trip.

When we get home, the first thing I do is empty the giant plastic bags of apples into big bowls, which I leave out on the kitchen table to make them really easy to grab when I feel inspired. I’ve left them in the plastic bags before, and somehow I’m not quite as motivated to actually use the apples when they’re stored like that.

My kids love homemade apple sauce, so that’s the first thing that I always make. I always think I’ve made way too much, but it’s almost always all gone by later that night, no matter how much I make.

If you do something similar, these apple danishes are super simple and can easily be made at the same time. The process isn’t that much more involved and they can bake easily at the same time that the sauce cooks. That way you can have them ready for a special breakfast the next day or as a treat in school lunches. And I’m not going to lie, I would definitely feel like mom of the year for including homemade apple danishes in my kids’ lunches. 🙂

Try this three ingredient apple danish recipe this fall after you get back from the orchard! It's the perfect easy baking recipe to use for all those fall apples!

Ingredients

  • 1packagePuff pastrydefrosted
  • 3Applespeeled and thinly-sliced
  • 1/4cup-ishSugar

Instructions

  1. Start out by cooking your apple slices on low in a pot with a little bit of water. Cook for about 10 mins or until the apples are soft.

  2. Roll out the puff pastry into two large rectangles, about 14"x 10" (ish), and slice each rectangle into six smaller rectangles.

  3. One set of six rectangles will be your danish "bases" and one will be the "tops". Slice three small slits in six top pieces. Place the base pieces on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

  4. Place about 8 thin slices of cooked apple in the middle of each base piece of pastry, or as many as you can fit while still leaving a 1/4" space around the edges of the pastry.

  5. Sprinkle a bit of the sugar over the apples.

  6. Top each apple-covered base piece with a top piece of pastry and pinch all around the edges to hold the apples in.

  7. Sprinkle a bit more of the sugar over top of each assembled danish.

  8. Bake for 20 mins at 400 degrees. Enjoy!
