Yesterday, after a strong GDP report which was accompanied by tame inflation readings and solid earnings US equities gapped higher again. Markets faded throughout the morning ahead of the 7yr auction after a very poorly received 5yr auction on Wednesday. That auction went off without a hitch and equity markets stabilized in the back half of the session to end near the highs. Post close earnings were not quite as strong especially in the chip sector which seemed to weigh a bit on Asian markets overnight. Major indices in China also pulled back after a sharp rebound in the previous three sessions amidst calls for additional policy support. However, European indices have been trading higher overnight helped by strong results from a couple of luxury goods companies (LVMH & Remy Cointreau +>10%). S&P futures were lower overnight but had bounced with European indices recouping most of those losses ahead of this morning’s US economic data. Following that data which continued to point to a resilient consumer and inflation that remains contained S&P futures are now a touch higher while Russell 2k future are trading up ~0.6%.
